The pound lock was first built in China in 984, by Qiao Weiyue (乔维岳) on the Grand Canal. Two gates, water let in until the levels meet, then the far gate opens.

This is Alameda, shrunk to a small island, and every place on it is something I've made or done. You drive my FTC robot, or take the ferry.
